I'm late to the show but since I get it with Amazon Prime I've been watching it.

The first season was okay but drug on too long. I think it would have been better if they had cut the story down some so that it moved faster. The ending was a bit goofy too.

I'm three shows into the second season and the pace is much better and the story a bit more bizarre. Mysterious space aliens and a creepy asylum have made for an interesting story so far.

And then there is this:

Thanks a truckload for getting that tune stuck in my head.

It's a good series

My favorite seasons are:

S1, the Haunted House
S3, Coven
S5, Hotel

The seasons always start off well but get progressively weirder by the end

Each season is a completely different story but the creators say the stories are all connected

My favorite so far is Coven, which is about Witches in New Orleans

I'm not sure if I like the current season and I'm 4 episodes in

Season one was okay. I thought it slowed down too much to keep repeating the story that if you go to the Murder House then chances are you die horribly there. By the time they got to the Mena Suvari/Black Dahlia version I was like, "Yes, I get that part already."

And the 'happy' ending of the dead Harmon family decorating a Christmas tree jumped the shark for me. They were completely dysfunctional as a family when they were alive and now it is 'Leave it Beaver' after they're all dead? Meanwhile the antagonists look on angrily from outside like they can't come in anymore?

I like the shock and horror aspect of the show. The acting is really good most of the time too.

But the plots and storylines don't make a whole lot of sense usually

It's usually an entertaining show but not the best example of good TV

I agree with the shock and horror part. Tate was the best example. They had me feeling sorry for the guy until the beach scene where I correctly guessed who the high school students were.

And Constance was a character one could love to hate. Jessica Lange did a great job at making her cringe worthy.

Bonus points for spotting the Walking Dead actress in season one of AHS. :)

So I finished the second season and it was okay. It seemed to suffer the same fate as the first season in that they ran out of plot with two episodes left to do. So it ended up with this 'Bosch' like pair of wrap up episodes.
The Kit/Jude part was bitter sweet which seemed a bit odd for a horror show. A happy ending for them? Not the stuff of horror. Then there was the Lana/son story which came across as half baked. The long lost son comes back to meet his fate. Whatever.

People say the Odd numbered seasons of AHS are better

I tend to agree. Season 3 is my favorite so far followed by Seasons 5 and 1
