Bloomberg:

(AP) -- The Trump administration is considering a proposal to mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants, including millions living nowhere near the Mexico border, according to a draft memo obtained by The Associated Press.

The 11-page document calls for the unprecedented militarization of immigration enforcement as far north as Portland, Oregon, and as far east as New Orleans, Louisiana.

Four states that border on Mexico are included in the proposal — California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas — but it also encompasses seven states contiguous to those four — Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Governors in the 11 states would have a choice whether to have their guard troops participate, according to the memo, written by U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, a retired four-star Marine general.

White House and DHS now denying the AP report

Kind of like how, if Donald Trump had simply read the missive sent to him by the Congressional Black Caucus back in January, he'd have had some tangible grounds for accomplishing some objectives in place by now, and that he could've perhaps shared them with the reporter who asked a question about inner cities at his press conference yesterday.

So they jumped the gun?

Not good to not check on stuff before publishing it.

Trump is screwing up but best to make sure you got the info right first,

Lest the media's screw up give ammo to his supporters.

It was an 11-page memo. Sounds legit but it could be Trump's people intentionally trolling the Press

Again, they had an opportunity to respond to the AP before the article was published but chose not to.

It's hard to say what is going on here.

AP could have been fooled and reported crap.

DHS could have developed this without the White House knowing exactly what the deal was.

The Administration could be floating this just to screw with people.

The Administration could be floating this to gauge what the response is and calibrate a further policy based on it.

Since there's not a reasonable expectation that the White House is going to do anything in good faith at this point, it's all just a bit of a tossup.

Irresponsible of the press to publish a story without confirmation.
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose freewill.

I think the memo was leaked intentionally either to figure out who is leaking stuff from inside the White House or to Undermine the credibility of the AP.

DHS says it was a very early draft but not official policy:

A DHS official says memo was "a very early, pre decisional draft... and was never seriously considered by the Department"

Actually, the irresponsibility lies with the administration. AP floated the story to them and they had an opportunity to kill it and didn't.

Sounds like the AP and many on here might've gotten fooled again by fake news, knowing that the kneejerk response and appetite of those on the left for fake news and anything anti-Trump is insatiable.

Guess now would be a good time for you to change your misleading thread title if that is the case.
