OOOOhhhhh boy. More free stuff. And now it will be brought right to their doors.

All these services are already available....oh ohh...can't have them putting down the remote or taking a break from selling on the corner.

Another feel good waste of money.

Ridiculous.

Mayor Catherine, like all other pols, wants to be seen to "do something" to cure a serious problem.

My best guess is that the yos will take advantage of the services offered and then go out to shoot people. More government giveaways will not change the mindset of those involved in the violence.

It's generally agreed that the drug trade is the basis for the protracted violence along with the gang culture.  The drug trade is the most profitable business in B'more and the young men involved in it make more money than they ever could in the menial jobs for which they are qualified.

Catherine can offer more services and Kevin can offer more cops but until they find a way to take the profit out of drugs I don't see much in the way of change on the horizon.

In theory, she is right. You need to keep people off the street to lower crime. But what she should be doing is dropping condoms from helicopters to lower the birth rate of the city's poor.

Kids in the city want money. Free basketball camps don't offer them that.

People looking for work, and homeless people, aren't the ones committing crimes Madam Mayor.

As I have said many times. Their 'lifestyle' is has been ingrained over generations. The services have been their for generations. Do-gooders have been trying to help them for generations.

Hopefully .... someday....the libs will get it...that you can't help everyone...especially those that don't want to be helped. Well, no that isn't entirely true. You can leave your check and free stuff....but don't expect them to change.

The only way to straighten this out is clearing the slate. Hmmmm maybe instead of dropping condoms maybe they should start dropping ammo ....let them do it themselves.

Sorry ... no pity for the truly useless parasites.

Lower subsidies for single parents, increase spending on birth prevention.

The problem is the poor, and the not-so-poor, are having too many children they have no intention on raising to become contributors to society.

They don't realize, or don't care, that raising a child is a 20 year commitment. Not just a "look at me" 9 month scheme.

Post 20 describes the problem.  No politician will go near mentioning the real problem.

Just come up with ways to spend other people's money.

I'm guessing he got his "bash Baltimore City" threads mixed up. Common mistake since that's what most threads on locals are.

What is there to bash about Baltimore? Surely not its efficient government and spending controls or crime.
