Md. Family’s YouTube Pranks On Their Kids Raise Questions Of Abuse

April 19, 2017

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Frederick County family is accused of child abuse after posting a video that left their child in tears.

The parents are claiming the video, which has since been removed from their channel, was fake, and that the children were in on the prank.

But some viewers and even health experts say the video, posted on the DaddyOFive channel, raises serious questions of abuse.

It shows a boy in tears after his parents yell at him for making a mess. Three minutes into the profanity-filled video, the parents reveal it’s all a joke.

But YouTube viewers didn’t find it so funny, calling it “disgusting” and holding it up as child abuse.

YOUTUBE’S DADDYOFIVE LOSES CUSTODY OF CHILDREN FOLLOWING CHILD ABUSE ALLEGATIONS
Emma and Cody have been placed in the custody of their biological mother.

Mike Martin, the owner of the YouTube channel DaddyOFive, has reportedly lost custody of two of his children to their biological mother following child abuse allegations levelled at him and his wife, Heather Martin.

The Martin family was placed under the microscope over a series of “prank” videos that were uploaded to the DaddyOFive YouTube channel, which depicted Mike and Heather shouting expletives at their children, encouraging the siblings to bully one another and reduced their youngest kids to tears on several occasions. Rose Hall, the biological mother of Emma and Cody Martin, has appeared in a video alongside her lawyer, Tim Conlon, describing the events that have taken place since the outrage over the DaddyOFive footage, explaining that she now has emergency custody over the two young kids.

The biological mother of the two children gaining custody made the Baltimore Sun: http://www.baltimoresun.com/features/baltimore-insider-blog/bs-fe-daddyofive-rose-hall-custody-youtube-michael-heather-martin-20170501-story.html

Two children from 'DaddyOFive' YouTube videos placed in custody of biological mother

May 2, 2017

Biological mother Rose Hall has gained temporary custody of the two youngest children who appear in the controversial DaddyOFive YouTube videos posted by Maryland couple Michael and Heather Martin, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

In a video posted to YouTube on Monday, Hall’s attorney Tim Conlon of The Custody Place says Frederick County Circuit Court granted Hall emergency custody of the children amid the furor surrounding the Martins’ YouTube channel, which featured videos of what the couple called “pranks” on their children.

Major Tim Clarke of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the agency assisted in carrying out the court’s temporary order Friday and helped peacefully retrieve the children. Clarke said the sheriff’s office was not involved in the petition for custody. Conlon told the Baltimore Sun Tuesday that a hearing will be held Friday.

Well, this is very interesting, Baltimore Sun could not get confirmation of a CPS investigation due to MD confidentiality laws however the Huffington Post somehow got confirmation that a CPS investigation is actually occurring: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/youtube-parents-face-child-abuse-probe-daddyofive_us_5909ccdbe4b05c3976849fd2?7pc&ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009

Parents Reportedly Lose Custody Of 2 Kids After YouTube ‘Pranks’

The parents behind a popular YouTube channel that showed them subjecting their five children to a series of questionable “pranks” have reportedly lost custody of two of their kids amid a child abuse investigation.

Maryland’s Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Office of Child Protective Services are investigating Mike and Heather Martin, who gained internet fame for their DaddyOFive YouTube channel, authorities confirmed to HuffPost on Wednesday. The Baltimore County Police Department is reportedly conducting a separate investigation.

The videos show the Martins screaming profanities at their kids, breaking their toys as a “prank” and blaming them for things they didn’t do. Some show the kids being pushed, punched and slapped.
