The NFL seems to want to make the AFC North bookends this year.  Baltimore and Cincinnati play each other on the first and last weeks of the season (open in cincy, finish in Baltimore), Pittsburgh and Cleveland do the same.

Other interesting tidbits from the schedule:

Ravens play week 3 in London against the Jaguars then play the Steelers the next weekend at home.  Next game have to travel to Oakland.  That's an interesting stretch.

A home Thursday night game against the Dolphins.

Finally get a home Monday night game against the Texans.

A Sunday night trip to Pittsburgh.

Only two 4p Sunday games, at Oakland, home against Colts.

Their bye is in week 10.

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose freewill.

Not bad. Now if we can patch together an O-line, find some weapons for #5, and generate some kind of pass rush from our vets and youth then we may have a shot to get back to the playoffs.

The Colt game is a Saturday.

Get the usual prime time Steelers game on the road. Who will they retire this year at halftime.??

Yep. Didn't see that. Saturday, Dec 23, NFL network.

Oh. He'll just say he's thinking about retiring - dragging it out for eternity. Then when he throws an interception in the game he will go on hobbling to the sidelines.

Or what he likes to do limp back to the huddle and next play run out of the pocket for 25 yrs. I've seen it so many times but teams still fall for it.

So tired of finishing with the Bengals
2010 Cincinnati @ Baltimore
2011 Baltimore @ Cincinnati
2012 Baltimore @ Cincinnati
2013 Baltimore @ Cincinnati
2014 Cleveland @ Baltimore
2015 Baltimore @ Cincinnati
2016 Baltimore @ Cincinnati
2017 Cincinnati @ Baltimore

Started the 07, 08, 12, 14, and 17 seasons against them as well.

Week 3 onward for the Ravens is brutal as to the players' body 'rhythms'. One of the reasons the quality of play has dropped.
3 Sun, Sep 24 @Jacksonville* 9:30 AM
4 Sun, Oct 1 Pittsburgh 1:00 PM
5 Sun, Oct 8 @Oakland 4:05 PM
6 Sun, Oct 15 Chicago 1:00 PM
7 Sun, Oct 22 @Minnesota 1:00 PM
8 Thu, Oct 26 Miami 8:25 PM
9 Sun, Nov 5 @Tennessee 1:00 PM
10 BYE WEEK

(will never figure out why byes aren't the week before TNF...let's hope this is its last year)

Schedule makers do love to mess with all teams. For instance, here's the Patriots' ending schedule:
9 BYE WEEK
10 Sun, Nov 12 @Denver 8:30 PM
11 Sun, Nov 19 @Oakland 4:25 PM
12 Sun, Nov 26 Miami 1:00 PM
13 Sun, Dec 3 @Buffalo 1:00 PM
14 Mon, Dec 11 @Miami 8:30 PM
15 Sun, Dec 17 @Pittsburgh 4:25 PM
16 Sun, Dec 24 Buffalo 1:00 PM
17 Sun, Dec 31 N.Y. Jets 1:00 PM

Wow, the NFL really screwed the Patriots on their matchup with Pittsburgh. 3rd consecutive road game, after 3 straight division games, and after a Monday night division game on the road. I don't think I have ever seen a team that has had to play a 3rd consecutive road game after playing a Monday night road game. I'm going to have to bookmark that game. New England rarely gets points but Pittsburgh at home isn't going to give points. The spread should be very low and the percentages say a team on a third road game only wins that game about 35% of the time. Add the Monday night factor to that equation and betting against New England might be a very good play.

The alternative is Browns or Steelers but it does seem the league likes to give the Steelers a last game gimme each year with the Browns.

Or the NFL desperately trying to make the Browns Pittsburgh's main rival again. On NFL Network, they sometimes try to float the idea that the Bengals are their big rival. For multiple reasons, Baltimore-Pittsburgh will remain not only the AFC North's top rivalry, but one of the best in the league.

I am trying to plan another road trip to Green Bay. I am scheduled to be in Dayton sometime in September. If the stars align, I may be at Opening Day.

Browns n Bengals being in the same state makes them rivals for Ohio.

It doesn't matter. We have won a lot there lately regardless. If not for Dean Pees and his famed "prevent defense", we would have won last year too.

Yes, but the Browns-Steelers rivalry dates back to 1950 when Cleveland first came into the league.

Back then the Steelers were pretty bad and Cinn was not even thought of. Since the fans of Cleve don't like Balt for taking their team that should be a bigger rivalry. That and I wouldn't like to see the Ravens/Steelers end each season.
