Office of Government Ethics Director Announces Resignation

151 posts in this topic

I'm sure he got tired sharing his office with the brooms and mops.

The head of the federal agency charged with overseeing government ethics announced Thursday he is resigning nearly six months before his term is set to expire.

Walter Shaub Jr., the director of the independent Office of Government Ethics, tweeted the resignation letter he sent to President Donald Trump, announcing his last day on the job would be July 19.

“It’s clear that there isn’t more I could accomplish,” Shaub told the Washington Post in an interview about his tenure. Just after his resignation letter was released, the Campaign Legal Center announced Shaub would join as senior director of ethics.

Served under Bush as Deputy Counsel and then as head under Obama. No problem with those administrations. His term would have expired next year.

Golly, wonder what changed...

I'm sure trying to monitor ethics questions in the current administration is like herding cats.

I found this article on NPR that shed some light on it.

It's very simple, he gave up trying to prevent the numerous ethical violations and questionable actions by what is clearly a criminal organization. This is the most unethical administration by far. This guy is resigning to work from the outside. The special counsel for whistleblowers, despite being highly recommended for being kept was left go by the giant orange snowflake.

the lack of transparency, the lack of ethics, and morals is the hallmark of this administration.....the swamp is now an ever-growing cesspool.

So ethics change under republicans?  Yeah, maybe you are right. It is the end.

Wall Street used to set the SEC rep up with their own rooms to watch porno.  I suspect Manchild intends something like that as a replacement.

He worked for both the Bush and Obama administrations.

I didn't realize that government ethics was a partisan thing.

the ethics director is appointed for a 5 year term......much like the FBI director, the Ethics Director is supposed to function in an independent manner....however, the giant oranre snowflake doesn't want to be bound by ethics, or laws, or common sense,....and so on

it's amazing how much some people don't know how their government is supposed to work.....SAD! SAD ! SAD!

Hair color wisecracks are passé.

Try something new for a change, like maybe his selection of ties.

You know, the kind of stuff that's really important to you.

Yeah... I expect a president's administration to adhere to ethical standards. You, apparently do not.

Resigning from the Trump administration is the only ethical thing to do. No one with any self-respect should work for him.

Rather slanted you come to that conclusion.

Maybe it's a personal thing? I would imagine it's hard to get along with The Donald?

Oh, so it's his skin color that's got your knickers in a knot.

And you people have been telling us that skin color shouldn't matter.

What a bunch of phonies.
