Majority of Republicans now say colleges are bad for America

Yeah, uh...

Having 3 college-age step daughters, and having visited their campuses, listened to their faculties speak at orientations, and witnessed first hand what is going on, I can say with at least some degree of validity that there is no question a culture of leftist indoctrination at the colleges I've been in contact with in recent years.  It's more than just the faculty too, it's student groups/organizations that exert tremendous pressure on incoming students to take up leftist social causes.  My oldest, who is quite liberal herself, has even told me that she is constantly pressured from all angles, especially during the recent election.

This summer my youngest transferred to a new school( which I will not name ).  I thought it being a historically Catholic(Jesuit) school, that it would be a little less pushy in that area than her previous school in Boston, but I was shocked to see that it looked like something of an Orwellian propaganda machine.

You cannot possibly sit here and tell me that schools are not indoctrinating students.

They know it.

They deny it because it helps them, morality be damned.

Give us some examples of how professors or student groups attempted to "indoctrinate" your kids. Obviously if they notice bias among their professors and student body, the indoctrination isn't working.

As I mentioned earlier, I had both Left leaning and Right leaning professors in college (early-00s). They didn't hide their biases but welcomed debate for the most part if you happened to disagree with them. I debated Socialism vs Capitalism with a conservative Economics professor. I debated history with one of my conservative world history professors.

I believe some people think that this in itself is a liberal viewpoint.

sorry you don't get to claim something is true and then ask others to prove that your claim is false...

I did prove it.

Other posters back it up also.

I asked them to prove their POV.......crickets.

Typical liberal response given what asked for then dismiss it.

I seriously doubt they had computers when you went to college if you even did.

Did you read that ridiculous article you posted?  Of course I'm going to dismiss that.  And here's a tip.  Just because a search engine returns pages of hits, does not mean they are legitimate articles.  Your article ranting about leftists and asking for donations isn't the most analytical viewpoint.

I first attended college in 1998.  If you aren't aware, computers and this Internet thing did exist.

Lets not forget that this is a poll, and we certainly know how accurate polls have been lately. Also what is missed is that these pubs who are answering this poll are not in college, they are watching the snowflakes melt down on TV, that is what is sending the message that colleges are not as useful as they used to be. I would bet that most colleges, and most college students are just getting an education and not participating in this leftie meltdown.

Some have a very ignorant concept of the term "indoctrination".

Of course there are... just because a search brings up a bunch of pages doesn't mean what you see is anything more than people's opinion.  The truth that I experienced is that not only was I not indoctrinated when I was in college, but a good many of the folks I graduated with are still of a conservative mindset to this day.  There simply is not indoctrination.  The truth is that you and many others have been bombarded with that message from the right for years and now you just believe it to be true no matter what.

Nah,I saw it first hand and have been told by relatives,it's only gotten worse.

Very presumptive to think I got my opinion from the news.

But it's what happens here.....projection.

It's not projection, it's my first hand experience as well... very presumptive of you as well no?

The public college I went to must have been different or something.  I can't imagine the college world has drastically changed in the past 8 years since I last attended, but who knows.

Nothing has changed. Fox News and the Conservative Media have succeeded in painting colleges as Liberal Indoctrination Factories.

I think it would depend on the classes chosen. There seem to be a lot more classes in identity politics than there were when I was in college. Of

course I went to the engineering college and didn't take that many humanity classes.

Perhaps they are merely middle of the road and right-wingers feel it is leftist because it doesn't conform to their own views.

A college education is enhanced by students being confronted with opinions and ideas that challenge their own.

Right-wingers shouldn't fear this, even though I know that they find anything that doesn't conform to their own view as being part of a massive, dangerous conspiracy.

Have a little faith. Young people seldom listen to anything their teachers say. :)

It seems more likely that all the melting down by snowflakes on campus has painted colleges as Liberal Indoctrination Factories, and it wasn't just Fox that was showing this bad behavior.

2002 and 2009.  Did Obama add all the leftist courses after I finished?

To be honest .... IMHO....this liberal 'think' that people 'believe' is rampant may have some merit.

BUT I think a lot depends on which school you go to. Now this is just my experience...mileage will vary

I attended Glassboro State College and graduated in 1975. At the time it was basically a liberal arts/teacher college. And ohhhh boy...there were all sorts of liberal type protests. Now, spin ahead, GSC is no longer a college but is now Rowan University. It's focus is NOW on hard science (IT, Engineering, Chemistry, hard science research and so on).

I went back for an advanced degree in Computer Science/IT in the 80's to Rowan. Lots of poop going on then too. Were there protests, sit ins, liberal agenda meetings. NOPE. Everybody was too busy studying or creating a proto-type in the labs or testing out computer algorithms.

So.... left brain....right brain. Simple. Just depends on which college you go to ....to achieve or observe critical mass.

Sorry, but this is simply not true  I attended college in the 1980's, and I have 3 step daughters currently in college.  I am speaking from the perspective of PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

A LOT has changed.

I don't get my information from Fox News, or any other conservative source.  I don't watch Fox news...at all.  I actually watch CNN.  But I digress...
