If true the IC failed miserably in it's assessment as to when NK would have this capability!

“The IC [intelligence community] assesses North Korea has produced nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery, to include delivery by ICBM-class missiles,” the assessment stated, according to the Washington Post.

This new report coincides with the new ban on US citizens traveling to NK.

So, we have a decision to make.  Live with a nuclear armed nut in NK or take out their capability and risk tens of thousands of South Koreans and some US military personnel losing their lives.

So the IC failed miserably?  That's a rather harsh assessment don't you think?  Let's be honest here, assessing what's going on in  NK has to be about the most difficult job the IC has.  It is absolutely expected that they are going to get some things wrong.

To me it's not even a decision.

Everyone knows assessments should err on the side of caution. According to the IC NK's nuke capability was still several years away. If this news is true then yes the IC failed miserably leaving our government now rushing to make a very serious decision. We may have lost the opportunity to contain the war to just the Korean peninsula.

I think it's pretty harsh to say the IC failed. North Korea is pretty unpredictable

The question is, can we live under the threat of a nuclear armed NK? Or will we go to war?

We live with a nuclear NK.  Especially considering how much our actions contributed to this current situation.

Wow, you seem to think that war is inevitable... or are you hoping that it is?

I have to agree but if they ever use one then I think we annihilate them completely.  No survivors.

This guy is a ridiculous disaster.  He just followed that up with a tweet about poll numbers.  He's a complete joke and he just may end up getting a lot of people killed

Even if we take out their nukes, attacking North Korea would result in massive death and destruction to South Korea from conventional weapons. (Seoul is only 35 miles from the border.) I think we have to hope that the North Korean leadership isn't suicidal.

Perfect timing for his "But Hillary" defenses of his failures

How did our actions contribute to a nut dictator getting nukes?  Do you think he ever had any other intention?  The guy is completely unstable.  One can only hope that he realizes that firing off a nuke is the end of him and his nation.

Assuming our nuclear force still operates in some manner of cold war readiness, I would imagine a barrage of submarine launched ballistic missiles the instant they struck or attempted to.  Figure there has to be a couple boomers around the peninsula these days.

Why do small, rogue states want nukes?  So they don't get invaded.

We have to decide whether we think they're suicidal or delusional enough to think they could fight a winning war with the US.  This is where China has to lay the facts before the nut and tell him how close to disaster he is.

Why would we invade a place that has nothing we want and which would arouse China?  Ironically, getting nukes gets them closer to destruction than not getting them.

Well good for them. Maybe they can get to work on feeding people next. Always a toughie.

I'm not saying the US would.  But considering the various US military actions over the past 20-30 years, it has to make some loser dictator think that might get invaded considering their atrocities and the US alliance with SK.

Probably not.  The fat kid probably needs scotch and Donald Duck films like his loser old man.

Iraq provided a valuable learning experience for regimes interested in their survival.
