Does anyone think Peter Angelos will try and void Chris Davis' contract?

48 posts in this topic

Is it possible?

How much longer will the owner tolerate paying someone $23 million a year to "hit" .220???

Its absurd.

It's guaranteed, period. If any owner tried something like that, the union would file a grievance in a New York minute and they'd win.

The funny thing is-he was the one responsible for overpaying for him, not DD.

Exactly.  DD had already made the deal for Trumbo and IMO was ready to move on.  I think this one has Buck's fingerprints all over it along with Pete's stupidity.  Normally, Pete would be way too cheap to sign off on 161mil.  Why this time?   But  Davis is one of Bucks guys.  Buck fell in love with that monster second half of 2015 and totally forgot that Davis was worthless in 2014 and the first 2 1/2 months of 2015.  Pete is just going to have to eat this one.  They may be able to move the remaining 5yr/85mil current obligation in a my junk for your junk trade, but Pete and the baby boys will have to choke down that 40 plus mil in deferred money.  They will be paying Davis long past the day Pete is 6 feet under.

Davis .196 in 2014, 221 in 2016, 221 in 2017 and .208 first half of 2015.   I think we got ourselves a .220 hitter that Ks 200 times a year plain and simple.

So, we're stuck with him.

What was illogical about it?

Are you happy with Davis' production?

I hear ya. I advocated bringing him back, and admit I was wrong.

Should have given Cruz a fourth year...

I don't think you, me or anyone that wanted him to come back was in favor of the contract he was given.

You don't see what's illogical about attempting to void a guaranteed contract? Never mind. Forgot who I was talking to.

It's not so much he hits .220. But he's not even hitting many HRs or driving in any runs.

Davis is on pace for like 24 HR and 64 RBI. Hardly worth all that $$$$$.

Completely apples and oranges. Belle had a degenerative hip condition. Davis has rocks in his head.

OBP is also down while strikeouts per game is up to 1.51.

It's actually a pace of 24 HR and 62 RBI. That's platoon type player numbers.

Remember when Lowenstein and Roenicke platooned?

Besides Joey Gallo, Chris Davis has the worst contact rate in MLB.

Gallo 56.3%

Davis 57.9%

No. Belle's contract was insured.

The called strike three he took Wednesday against Seattle was right down the heart of the plate!!!

Who can I sue for such a bad contract?  Guess what Birds fans?  It's only going to get a lot worse before it gets better.  And when that starts to happen I'll reunite the Birds with the Colts in Indianapolis.  Thanks for your monies!
