Strange v Moore (Alabama Senate Primary)

58 posts in this topic

Primary runoff is next week. Trump backs Luther Strange, Bannon backs Roy Moore.

Yes that Roy Moore, the former Alabama chief justice who was removed from office once, elected back to it, then suspended from it and later resigned. Anyways, he's supposed to win.

Everybody should vote for Moore. Sure, he feels the Bible supercedes the Constitution and that 9/11 was God's punishment for our sins, but he's not a sold-out, career politician. He's going to help President Trump "drain the swamp". What have we got to lose?

Two more loathsome turds would be hard to find.

They're apparently the cream of the crop among Alabama Republicans though, which is damning with faint praise.

I bet Sessions wishes he never gave up that seat.

Hope Moore wins, he would throw a wrench in the works and make it harder for Republicans to pass stuff through the Senate.

Quote

Moore at one point spoke of sitting "on our paunches" waiting for the wall to be built, and, in one of the classic lines of the night, said he wants to "get rid of transgister (sic) troops in our bathrooms."

He complained that he has been "attacked mercifully" by Strange, and stumbled getting his words out. Still, he came off as more genuine - except when he stepped outside his usual message and tried to attack Strange on issues with which he was not comfortable.

Meanwhile, Strange kept tying himself to Trump.

How long before Moore is caught in a motel room with an underage boy?

Trump should be supporting Moore, as Strange is part of the "the swamp". Moore, like Trump is not part of the establishment.

But we must be honest, as much as we look down on politicians, their work is dirty because humanity is dirty. Machiavelli wrote about that so well.

But the alternative is men like Trump and Moore. Incompetent, ignorant, bigoted and grotesque.

Yahhhh know..... I am beginning to wonder if the south is getting back at the North after losing the CW.

i dunno....but it seems the south really has a propensity for producing brainstem representatives.

Look at this vid.....think congress....

Don't worry.....like the Terminator....'he'll be back'.....turds always float to the top....regardless.

BTW is it me.....but when he is at the podium he always looks like a mouse being stared at by several cats.

Don't think Trump will be too happy with this. And rightfully so. What a buffoon.

A vote for Luther Strange is a vote for Mitch McConnell and the useless GOP establishment.

Why should anyone vote for either one of them?

Democrats defend gay rights, a woman's right to control her body and health insurance for all. What's not to like?

Shelby, the only redeemable Alabama Republican, used to be a democrat.

Actually, If Roy Moore wins, there is a good chance the Dem challenger beats him. Except for Fringe nutjobs Most of Alabama does not like Roy Moore.

Most Alabamians I know are offended by Moore, and he was removed from office twice. He has also apparently been caught with his  hand in the campaign cookie jar --

Less than 20% of Alabama republicans are expected to tun out for the run-off.

The Dem candidate will be more palatable for most moderate Republicans than Moore.

By women's rights, leftists like you mean uninterrupted access to abortion, any time and in any circumstance. That's a sick "right"

Its much more than that, but you bring up a bogus issue. Women will have abortions either way, but leftists want to protect their health. The right,  not so much. The right stands for nothing that will do anybody any good, except for the rich.

Democrats, the party of Jim Crow and segregation, want to keep African Americans in impoverished communities, where they are dependent on government. Democrats have promised the moon but have yet delivered even a flash of lightning.

As for gay rights, marriage equality was the right thing to do. Democrats did punt to the courts on that one. Now as For restrooms, government shouldn't be allowing individuals to use the one that someone wants to be on a given day.

You really want to call him something else. Because he's conservative, white liberals feel justified in showing open hostility towards Dr Carson.  He didn't wait for the party of Jim Crow to make good on hollow promises.

He's a cabinet secretary backing a different candidate than the president. That doesn't strike you as a poorly thought out stance for him to take?
