I also am not sure he'd be a good replacement for Duquette if Duquette leaves.

Duquette needs to be fired. He dismantled a division championship team.

Well, there's where we disagree. And we have gone into this before. IMO Duquette has done a good job with what he has had to work with. Please understand that no up-and-coming GM would work with this ownership unless the ownership changes its ways. And that is just not going to happen. The Orioles need more money and personnel to run its ship. Somehow Angelos doesn't seem to feel he needs to pay for the little things as long as he can put a half-decent team that will occasionally get to the playoffs. He doesn't really care about winning as much as profit ratios.

Going back to Duquette, he has done what no other GM was able to do before him. He put teams on the field that won more games than they lost. Now that may not sound like much but the bar was that low before he came aboard. Rather than fire Duquette they should give him more. Two areas Duquette and any other GM that would come into the organization would be scouts (the Orioles reportedly are really thin in that department) and player development. But then again, Angelos and company have been reluctant to bring in people who would help any GM make more informed decisions. They like doing things on the cheap and hope that throwing more money at the ML level will satisfy fans and put more money in his pockets.

Not brining im Bleier when it was ckear Brach was lost

For the record i would have been pissed if Bleier gave up the run too lol, just frustrated with the whole thing

Not only that. But he didn't even have anyone UP in the BP!!! How insane is THAT?! They only got up AFTER McDowell went to the mound. That's just plain bad managing.

LOL at the title. This team is pretty sad right now.

Get the draft pick.

I just have a hard time seeing how people don't see that Duquette rode the MacPhail-built foundation as far as he could take it.  He got very lucky with a couple acquisitions that produced big seasons and helped tip the scale.  But that foundation that turned things around is now withering away for various reasons, and I think we're starting the see the weakness of what Duquette's done (or should I say "not done") to build a "next wave" of talent.  There isn't enough of it.  Not close.  The debilitating failures of most of his starting pitching acquisitions, and his / Buck's reluctance to cut bait and move on, seem like blatantly obvious major contributors to 1) being a road WC team last year instead of maybe a division winner, and 2) why they're limping to the finish line this year.

4 1/3, 8 baserunners, 4 ER, leaves with 2 on after throwing 100 pitches.

And after Wright faces one batter, Miley has 6 ER charged to his record...

Thorne: "Wright's thrown a lot of pitches. He's thrown 38 pitches and only recorded 3 outs".

He's now thrown 41 pitches, and still only gotten 3 people out.

Wright = Wrong.

This isn't shocking. 99 percent of the fans on this forum predicted this would happen...yet Big Dan and Peter Angelos were steadfast in their ignorance.

Buck knows pitching.  He likes Wright for the rotation next year.  :D

You just can't make this stuff up. The bigger issue looming on the horizon is the possibility that Buck will move from his current position to the GM position, and then things will REALLY get worse. Imagine an entire roster put together by Buck!

Yeah Buck as GM would be a disaster.  No doubt in my mind he would be re-signing Hardy and UJ.  His guys.  Tilly too.  He would not be able to sweep the dead wood out the door. .Let's face it.  Buck is already a co-GM on the 40 man roster.   How's that working out the last couple year's?

This team has quit on Buck. The absolute cow dung of a rotation (other than Gaus and Bundy) has finally cut the guts out of this team.

In other news... Castillo's catcher's ERA coming in to tonight was 5.58.  Wieters' last year with much of the same staff was 3.98.  His was lower than Joseph's last year, and is 0.80 lower than Lobaton's in DC this year.  Maybe the guy really did know how to call a game a little bit?

Is there some kind of record for a team losing by more than 6 runs in a season?
