Very respectable game. I'm sure it was unreal to watch.

Best of the 5 games I've seen this season.

Another wild one, though not at the level of the Potomac-G'burg showdown.

See what the top teams do to that weak Calvert Hall team DW.  Que the 4 paragraph response on how you have to compare all privates to publics.  The point was always that the top private teams are head and shoulders above top publics.

You’re delusional as hell.  SFA is the top team in the state, period.  Please come with something stronger than that!

McDonogh, Dematha, Gonzaga, SJC will/would do the same to CHC.  It's a different level.  These teams would pummel the best publics.

Guru.  You realize SFA called off the dogs right. Could have easily been 40-0.

Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to the chc game. But it seems like they played decent I expected them to loose by even more. Lol

The most important head coaching change this past offseason was Steve Crounse's move from Patuxent to Northern-Cal - because he brought his son, star QB Reese Crounse, along with him.

According to MaxPreps, QB Crounse currently leads all Maryland QBs in passing yards (by quite a bit). And Crounse certainly had a fine half (8-12 for 145 along with 59 yards rushing and a TD).

But it's not overly clear he's even the best QB on the field.

Chopticon QB AJ Hunt is far more athletic with a bigger arm and definitely with two bigger targets in 6'4 WRs Smith and Snyder.

WR Snyder (who leads the defense as a mean MLB) hauled in Hunt TD passes of 32 and 46.

Chopticon has a massive size advantage with an OL averaging 288 lbs overpowering a Northern-Cal DL averaging just 197 - seems like RB Gregory should have a lot more than just 5 carries running behind those hosses.

But Northern-Cal is hanging in and this one is far from over (5 of the 8 gentlemen making selections in the Calvert Recorder picked 3-0 Northern over 3-0 Chopticon).

Chopticon leads 11-7 in first downs and 246-199 in total yards.

21-6 Chopticon at half

JMT, if every HS coach entered their QB’s stats on MAXPREPS than Crouse’s ranking might mean something.  The proof is in the pudding or the putting.  If he goes to the next level then we’ll know the kid is legit and not a product of his competition.

Agreed.  Bullis had the better players. QO was deeper.  Other than some weird stuff at the end of regulation, it was one of the best games HS games I've witnessed in the past 8 years

:D  You do love to speculate with reclass mercenary central on what simply does not take place.  But what has happened is McDonogh, DeMatha, Gonzaga, and Saint John's you listed above have ALL lost when they faced likes.  Perhaps they should have save pummels for Gorman, De La Salle, Viera, and DeMatha for McDonogh.  Getting beaten by a private team merely means no points toward the playoff as it does losing to a public.  For you privates, you simply have no real skin in the game.  Pummels is just not a priority for publics as it appears to give you a boner to me.

Which dogs were they?  When I see the starters in there most of the game on both sides of the ball, I wouldn't consider that called dogs. Biff has never been the magnanimous type.

His QB brother Tyler is at the next level - Shepherd U  - and younger brother Reese is even better to me and led Patuxent to a state title as a 10th-grader.  Dunbar would know about the player from last season in the playoffs.

Crounse is not a next level QB - he's a legit current level star QB who does not pass the eyeball test.

I disagree they played the same kids all game they were clearly the better team but if you can put 40 on somebody you do it and from what I watched they were trying but C Hall played tougher in the second half . Somebody let GA know I'm gonna go out on a limb and am willing to bet his much that Gilman loses to C Hall

His older brother didn't pass the eyeball test but is a QB at Shepherd U.  The brothers, sons of a very good coach are simply throwback hardnose football players.  They can simply play and are great leaders.  I've seen them for many years.

I heard that they put in the 2nd team against CHC.  Bull****!  Football is not a game that you can go half ***.  SFA was better than CHC. That happens with a team of all-stars.  I’m not hating.  I’ve seen this before with Gilman &cDonogh after the arms race.

Beyond just WIN THE GAME Bully, what is your so-called top team supposed to do.  Tell me, do you get extra points or something of value for winning by a large number of points as opposed to winning by say ONE point???  Your point about TOP PRIVATE makes no sense.  Is not Calvert Hall in your TOP (Elite) tier of your three tier league based on talent???  Would that means Albert E., CHC is a TOP PRIVATE TEAM????  SO, your TOP PRIVATE CHC lost to a TOP PUBLIC ----- PERIOD!  What head and shoulders are you talking about since TOP CHC LOST to TOP Wise?????   Damn, you graduate from a private?  Was it a TOP academic private?  Come on dude, come on, make some sense here....

I saw Patixent beat Dunbar in the playoffs, DW. QB play and the passing game was not a reason why Patuxent won so easily against the Poets from what I remember.  What were Crouse’s  stats that game?

Ive seen some exceptional QB’s at the private and public school level over the last 10 years and Patuxent’s QB wasn’t one.

Yea, probably the best I've seen in a while, too. The Cougars have been part of 3 of the best games I've seen in the last 10 years, with the heartbreaking thriller to Old Mill in the'11 4A final, and the their thrilling victory over Arundel in the final in '07. What was your take on the apparent game-winninh Bonner TD at the end of regulation?

A 28-7 CHC loss is respectable. Better than Don Bosco (27-0), and the same margin as Bishop Sullivan, who lost to Good Counsel, 3-0, tonight.
