Cieran Sandy (The guy from England) will be a starter. He started at the 4 last year until he moved to the 5.

Booker is coming back, the transfer from Dulaney(who will Be their best player) and Tyler Foster’s little brother, who is like 6’7 now. No way does Sandy start. Also, believe they have another transfer, sooner with the new coach at MSJ game, didn’t get the details because I had to take a call.

Oh yeah, Guru is right! They have the 6’9 Jamaican kid who sat out last year. Sandy definitely doesn’t start.

I responded in a PM.

You are exactly the jackass-type I am referring to.  I pointed out an obvious fact. 6-0.  That always pisses off somebody to talk about the number of boys at CHC or your argument MOP. Go back and look at this thread over the past 2-3 seasons and the same POV is spit out by McDonogh & Gilman followers.  Hopefully the public school followers (Baltimore City & Howard Co) contribute to this thread like in the past.

FYI EI, CHC has recruits on JV. There is only one 9th grader on varsity this season.

All of my sons played JV ball so clearly I support the concept of the level. I just don't believe in crowing about the accomplishments of a JV team when the varsity program needs work. Its called prioritization and isn't about being a carnival barker for your rec Programs' kids. Fully understand why skill players should play JV if they're deep on the depth chart on varsity. Not sure about lineman as they usually need practice against other skilled big boys. CHC and the larger schools are in a position due to their numbers to field a competitive JV team year in and year out.

Jordan Foster is 6' at the most. Chase something (Dulaney fella) will be great. Pierce Bennett (Junior) also will get some playtime. I still see Sandy starting at the 4.

Gilman starting 5 -

Jalen Rucker at 1

Jordan Foster at 2

Chase (Dulaney) at 3

Cieran Sandy at 4

Booker at 5

Jamaican kid can't move to save his life.

Then it must have been the other transfer that was pointed out to me at the MSJ game. It wasn’t the Jamaican kid, I know what he looks like. This kid was a legit 6’7, he was taller than the Chase kid.

Could be Sandy?

No, I know what he looks like as well. There were two kids that I didn’t know. I knew what the Chase kid looked like, but didn’t know who the other two kids were. I thought the taller kid was Tyler’s brother, I even said it to somebody that the kid did some major growing. But now that you mentioned it, definitely wasn’t him.

Carnival barker, huh?  Look back at the 1st post. My recognition of CHC’s JV is what Gilman54321 requested in his thread.  I didn’t tout any individuals like other schools’ backers.  You would have been better served to just tell us about McDonogh and Loyola’s JV programs.  That’s more germane to this thread than your expected problem with me “crowing” about CHC’s JV.

As for prioritization, CHC is making strides and anybody who reads “Football for Dummies” could see this.  We’ll just have to wait to see if they can beat Gilman, Spalding or McDonogh.

First I didn't begin the ad hominem comments. You nailed the current state of affairs on Lasalle. Clearly CHC is making big strides. I'm a huge DD supporter and truly wish him the best. I don't believe their staff ever recovered from the loss of B. Hatter (sp?) as OC. I don't know the man but I sure liked the offense he orchestrated. They'll kill Gilman. Spalding and MCD will be tougher. My guess is they'll finish 3rd or 4th in the Conference. The only reason they won't beat Loyola by 50 is they'll stop scoring so as not to embarrass a long time rival.

More important than the loss of Hatter, IMO, was the necessary departure of  Corey & Dev of Next Level Nation.  They were excellent talent aquisition specialists, good position coaches and they provided cover for DD from good ol’ boy alumni.  DD has recovered from the loss of Hatter by bringing in some outsiders and several of his former players to accentuate highly capable returnees like Coach Southwick. I love what I see from the assistant coaching staff for the first time in years.

I don't think you miss Boh Hatter that much. I think it's Tommy Stuart you miss. That kid and the two Williams' would have made anyone look good.

No doubt the players helped a ton but I've seen Boh be successful with other players as well. All I know is when he left and the NL guys showed up the offense ground to a halt. Agree, the current staff is getting it done. Let's see how they do against some of the better Programs and coaching staffs.

Corey was a DB coach before and during Hatter’s time on varsity. Dev arrived after both but was a WR coach when Hatter was OC.  What are you talking about?

CHC was 38-10 from 2009 to 2012 with the three coaches.  They wer 3-9 the last year of the trio (2013) and 7-4 the first year after they all left.

What about Jones, does he still try to play. Pierce Bennett is a good ballaballayer who can definitely help that team

Jones will be on the team, but he’s not playing much. This should be a really good team this year. They gave State Champs Perry Hall all they could handle a couple of weeks ago in fall ball, and didn’t have Booker’s big body to lean on those twin towers Hall has.

A side effect of the arms race in the MIAA of seemingly to promise starting opportunities to freshman, is the slow deterioration of under squad teams. A few years ago every A conference team (except McD) had both full freshman and JV teams that played 8-10 game schedules. I can not prove it, but believe that as the teams have become more mercenary in recruiting and promising opportunities, the average athlete and potential football quit, or stopped coming out. What is the point of putting in the hours on the under squads if you were never going to get a shot as an upperclassmen?

As the playing opportunities seemed to plummet so did the participation rates. Part of the high school experience used to be the opportunity to meaningfully participate in extracurricular sports. The football team in most schools is the biggest program. It seems a shame to have reduced that team experience to the opportunity to see all stars prep for their DI chance.

SFA & McDonogh are the team’s keeping the arms race going.  The top three Catholic schools outside of Poggi/Russell’s boys are evenly matched.  Loyola not so much.

Chase Drew is re-classing as I understand it. so i think that makes him ineligible this year.  Not sure on that, but what I heard.

If he’s reclassing, then yes he will not be able to play. But he played with team in Summer and now playing fall ball with team.

Was just made aware that he is unable to play. Means that’ll move Sandy to the three (?), booker to 4 (?), and he jamaican kid to 5. I have zero faith in the jamaican fella as he seems to get in his own way.

So the student can just say he's repeating a grade he otherwise successfully completed?

Not only that. To my knowledge he reclassed when he transferred to CHC two years ago, then transferred to Dulaney with no reclass, then reclassed at Gilman.

I’ve never seen the Jamaican kid play before. He is big though, so at the very least, he gives them a big body.

Hold up GA12 (and counting); two years at CHC, one year at Dulaney, and one year at Gilman is four years.  Did the player play each of these years?  And did I hear correctly he has to sit a year before he can resume play?  What am I not getting right out of all of this reclass stuff....  Help a lost vamp!!
