Trump to "decertify" Iran deal

Why does it matter if they get the bomb in 2020 or whenever instead of next year?

Every year they don't have the bomb is a year they don't have the bomb. Its pretty simple.

But Trump shows our allies and our enemies, that we are unreliable, which will isolate us.

Beyond that, he and the Republican GOP are so incompetent, why encourage them?

Very shortsighted thinking.

That's the only thing.

That's why the deal sucks?

Its a hollow deal that only rewards Iran

What’s wrong with rewarding Iran for not building Nukes? What’s the downside?

Except you I and HST already said they are getting nukes regardless of the deal.

You know this already.

Again.....back to square 1

What's the big deal if they get it next year or in 2020?

No one has a good explanation.

Trump and the neo-cons want a war with Iran. I'd prefer that Trump not have any excuse to start the bombing before he resigns or gets impeached.

In ten years Iran might have a more Moderate regime. One that we can tolerate with nukes.

The current regime is aging and will be gone before 2025

Then Bush went after them. How did that work out?

Now Trump is imitating Bush with all this sabre rattling.

Oh well, what's one more lost war in our descent into irrelevancy?

One wonders why nothing was done to resolve that mess between 2009 and 2017.   Hmmm.

Of course, that has absolutely nothing to do with the thread, but do prattle on.

As for rogue nations getting nukes, the events in Iraq, Ukraine, and Libya in the past two decades prove there’s no long term incentive for giving up nukes.

Iraq didn’t voluntarily give up their WMDs but Libya and Ukraine did.

My comment made perfect sense.  You just need to take off those powder blue glasses through which you too often view the world.

hst2 whined about the failure of the Bush and Trump administrations to resolve the mess in the ME, skipping completely over the 8 long years between the two.  I merely posted about my interests in those years.

The deal is working and Trump has no basis to decertify. He's an idiot.

What happened in Libya was the most damaging precedent set as far as an adversarial nation's ability to trust the US.  Ghaddafi had given up Libya's pursuit of a nuclear bomb and began cooperating with the US and the West.  We re-established diplomatic relations with Libya between 2004-2006 and by 2006 rescinded Libya's designation as a state sponsor of terror.  We were much further along in Libyan relations than we currently are with Iran.  Yet for his efforts all Ghaddafi got was the US and NATO applying a no fly zone which aided the rebels in the civil war and eventually expanded into providing cover and air strikes against the pro government forces.   NATO, led by the US, tilted the playing field in favor of the rebels and Ghaddifi eventually fled and was hunted down and killed.  Why would anyone in opposition to the US ever trust us again after that?

Yes, Libya was a horrible horrible decision for the above reason and others.
