Trump claims he told Pence to do the protest

Vice President Mike Pence left an Indianapolis Colts game on Sunday shortly after several players on the opposing San Francisco 49ers kneeled in protest during the national anthem.

"I left today's Colts game because @POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem," Pence wrote on Twitter on his official @VP account, hours after tweeting that he was looking forward to taking in a game with his wife, Karen Pence.

He probably actually left because there were women present and he was afraid. ;)

Why does VP Pence hate the pledge of allegiance and disrespect our brave soldiers?

It was a completely choreographed political stunt. Reporters told there might be an early exit.

Do you approve of wasting taxpayers money for a cheap political stunt?

Meanwhile there's a new American superstar proud to be an American ....

Compare that with the Ravens in Europe ....

How much did it cost taxpayers for secret service to secure stadium in order for Pence to do a publicity stunt?

Meanwhile, there were probably thousands of veterans in the stands who couldn't give a rat's ar$e about some NFL players kneeling for civil rights.

That was his purpose for being at the game.

The fans should've sung "nah nah nahh nahhhh goodbye.

Total publicity stunt. This administration is a complete childish joke.

Well to be fair, who wants to watch Colts v 49ers?

Nice to see these guys have their priorities straight.

It just tied and is going to overtime. So it's actually a good game. But the Colts do suck right now.

Seriously, though, I assume doing this is the one thing that will work against North Korea.

Through the looking glass stuff. Sometimes this seems like a bad dream.

Meanwhile power plant in PR gone down. 6% of island has power.

MAGA Mike. Those folks in distress but you sure earned your paycheck today.

Of course it’s a political stunt; he’s a politician.

Had he cancelled, half of you would have called him a coward for not facing the protest.  The other half would have said he should have made up his mind before going there.

A real leader would’ve met with the players who protested after the game

He should have just stayed for the game or not gone at all.

I would have expected to him to walk if the Colts players took a knee but not the opposing team, especially the niners which is expected.

Stay there and root your team to kick ***.

So yes, smells like politics.

He's the VPOTUS. And apparently has lots of time on his hands.

And of course Trump rushed to comment on Twitter that HE had directed Pence to do this.

Leadership. Oy.

Hardly. If you're honest about things, you'd admit that a leader would've welcomed the opportunity for a sit-down with a representation of those protesting. Instead, Pence draws a false line in the sand so that he can say he's on the side "honoring" the flag, or whatever the bleep that means. It's all a bunch of sanctimonious tripe. You know it. I know it. We all know it.

Kind of irritating planning this kind of stunt. This was supposed to be Peyton Manning's day to be honored by the Colts. Shame to distract from that tribute to one of the finest QBs ever.

Mike was not the only one who left.

A real man stands.
