Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection with an after-school confrontation earlier this week inside Edmondson-Westside High School that left two staff members injured, a school official said.

Edie House-Foster, school system spokeswoman, said a group of eight students and adults entered the high school after dismissal on Monday and “physically confronted staff members.” She did not identify the staff members or specify their injuries.

“Two staff members were injured and subsequently received medical attention,” House-Foster said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with them for their speedy recovery.”

The district released a statement to 11 News, saying, "One of the students had been involved in fighting earlier in the school day. During the after-school confrontation, two staff members were injured and subsequently received medical attention. Our thoughts are with them for their speedy recovery. The police investigation is ongoing to ensure that all participants receive appropriate consequences in accordance with the law and city schools' code of conduct."

Edmondson's principal, Carl Perry, is aware of what took place, but couldn't talk about the details.

"The police are handling the matter, but it was not school-related. (It happened) inside the building after hours, yes. Besides that, no comment, sir," Perry said.

Sources said there's a school police officer assigned to the west Baltimore campus, but the officer was not on duty at the time of the assault. Even so, the principal said, the building has returned to order.

"The climate is wonderful. The climate is wonderful," Perry said.

From the WBAL AM version of the story.  This Principal sounds like a real piece of work.  How the hell can he claim that this is not school related?

The ability to "sweep under the rug" is how most public school principals are evaluated.

Man, a person couldn't even make up a story like that.  Wonder how that lady AP is doing after being attacked.  That's some real thuggery that took place.

Yah gotta go along to get along....to be able to get to pension age.

Like most things in BC.....no one wants to hear the truth.

You were expecting an education administrator to suddenly develop a stiff spine?  LOL!!

Sweeping dirt under the rug and spinning everything as sunshine and light is a job requirement.

Were the two adults parents of the youths and irate about some real or imagined occurrence in the

school?

Any bets nobody goes to jail for this? The AP has the making of a lawsuit in which the suppressed

details could emerge.

How will the City school system hope to get, and retain, good teachers when this sort of thing happens?

A close relative of mine was a City school teacher until this school year. Everyone in the family is relieved that she's out of there.

Rumor has it that the city is trying to swing a deal with the state to allow for CCWs for the teachers as part of the incentive package.
