Weather Underground has gone down the toilet

7 posts in this topic

I used to enjoy the Weather Underground site, but it seems to have really deteriorated in the past several months.  It's slow to load, has been redesigned to put its most useful feature (the 10-day forecast chart) on an additional tab.

A lot of people agree.

Try intellicast. I use them. I got tired of weather.com and AccuWeather, whose apparent opinion is that everything except mild and pleasant is a major event.

I wonder why Xfinity dropped WeatherScan again.

WeatherNation (Ch. 205) gone also.

Xfinity SUCKS. Raises prices and drops channels. Useful channels. While keeping 75% of channels nobody wants.

Time to find a cheaper alternative as my Triple Play nears $300 a month.

Xfinity is not alone in making these decisions which are often due to highers fees from the programmers and the lack of viewers to justify the increase.  Verizon FIOS dropped The Weather Channel entirely over a couple years ago and replaced it with The AccuWeather Channel.  It's not bad but it is feels somewhat canned and is not a good source for severe weather.  Verizon FIOS also dropped Bloomberg Business News recently.
