Unfortunately I just don’t see any way that Belicheat and Brady let Nick Foles beat them in the Super Bowl

Certainly the refs won't.

Belichick is from the area (Annapolis) and got his start with the Baltimore Colts. The careers of Brady and Unitas parallel each other in a number of ways, particularly the respective beginnings, and when the Colts left town, another former Colt great--Raymond Berry--took over as coach of the Patriots.

Not the most popular choice on this board, but I'm going with New England.

I really feel comfortable picking the Eagles to not only cover, but to win outright. This is a bad matchup for the Patriots. Because of my thread bump tendencies, I am certain this will be bumped if I am wrong.

I agree.  I think the Pats defense, much like the Steelers is vastly overrated.   I  also think Nick Foles is being vastly underrated.  The Eagles were the best team all season, and they will surprise some people with a solid win.

I think the Eagles have the best shot of beating the Pats, even with  Foles behind center.

If the Eagles D plays as well as they did last week and Foles manages the like he has done since stepping in, I see a win.

And I may even throw a 50 in to make it interesting:D.

The Eagle's defense is good, and it obviously gives them a chance in this game.  Also the fact is that in all of their Super bowl wins with Brady, none of them were anymore than one score games.  Foles had a nice game against Minnesota, but I'm still skeptical.  I saw a stat that dome teams going outdoors in conference championships are 0-11 dating back to 1978.   Since taking over for Wentz, Foles has played only one game away from Philadelphia, a nice game against the pathetic NY Giants.  He struggled against the Raiders, only throwing for 163 yards.  The Eagles were shut out in their last game, but that game meant nothing and Foles did not play most of it.  The Falcons were one play away from maybe winning the divisional playoff game despite turning the ball over twice.  The Patriots defense looks terrible statistically, but since week 4 they only gave up 20 or more points twice, and 20 to Jacksonville.  In that same span, they scored 20 or more in every game except one.  It is clear that it is tough to score over 20 points against New England, but it is also clear that unless you do so, you aren't going to win.

I think the game will go a lot like every game I see the Patriots play.  The Eagles will come out as the more pumped up team and most likely get the lead.  The Patriots will play the game the way Ali used to play his opponent, let them punch themselves out emotionally.  Meanwhile the Patriots will chip away and set themselves up to take the lead sometime in the 4th quarter, and their defense will clamp down and deny any last effort by the Eagles to win.  A Philadelphia win wouldn't shock the world, but I just think the inexperience of playing on that stage will eventually catch up with the Eagles and Nick Foles.

I'm sure New England will be studying Atlanta's defensive scheme against the Eagles--which held them to 15 points--to that of Minnesota, which pretty much let Foles do whatever the hell he wanted.

Foles can be dangerous, mainly because you can never be certain which guy is going to show up. In Philly's previous three games, for example, Foles went just 7-for-21 on third down. Against the Vikings, he completed 10 straight throws on third down. His strengths and weaknesses also appear to be inter-linked. He doesn't give up on a play even when there are times he probably should. He loves to chuck the ball downfield whenever possible, but there are also times when his mechanics can appear to disintegrate almost entirely.

My guess is that New England will be aggressive up front since Foles isn't a threat to run, but more conservative on the back end because of his big arm. The hallmark of New England is that defensively they'll play to an opponent's strengths, while on offense they'll play to the other side's biggest weakness. And if those strategies don't pan out initially, there are few better than Belichick at in-game adjustments.

Ever since the last cheating scandal I have made it a point to not watch any other games besides Ravens games and I have stuck to that. I didn't watch last year's Super Bowl and I picked (in this survey) to not watch it again this year. But it all depends where I will be or who comes over to the house. Quite frankly, I haven't had the TV on since the Ravens lost to the Bengals. I have been doing a lot of reading lately - reading books that I've bought years ago and never read.

I voted for Who cares. I don't like either team so I really don't care who wins. I hate the Patriots but I think this may be the end of their dynasty. I feel just like everyone else on here about the Patriots. I can't stand the Eagles because I work with several Eagle fans and they get obnoxious to the point where they think I'm supposed to worship them. As you can see I'm stuck in the middle and I don't want to root for either team.

I doubt I'll watch, but the Eagles were my adopted team between the Colts and the Ravens. I've actually been to more Eagle games than Ravens games.

I tried adopting the eagles during those 12 years we didn't have a team but it didn't work. I even bought an Eagles hat which I no longer have. During that time I couldn't watch the NFL at all.

I love reading the comments here.

The Patriots have perhaps the most consistently winning team in NFL history.  In the age of free agency and salary cap, these guys have pulled a 17 year dynasty.

Wahh, it's the refs.

Wahh, it's the lousy competition in the AFC East.

Wahh, it's spygate.

Wahh, it's deflategate.

Wahh, Brady whines.

I have no idea if the Patriots are going to win.  That is one tough Eagles defense and Foles' last game was the game of his life.  But I do like watching people who are good at their chosen craft - and none have been better then Brady and Belichick.

GO PATS!

I'm not rooting for either, but I hate the Patriots much more than I dislike Philadelphia's obnoxious fans.

Yeah because we should root for the Yankees, Red Sox, Duke, UNC, Warriors, and the Patriots. We should root for the favorites, the chalk, the elites, to win.

If you think that go to a casino and root for the house.

Go Eagles...but I think I will just go into the other room and read a book.

The most vehement haters on here are the same ones bashing the rich and successful people and all corporations up on nationals .....

They make the same accusations up there, that the game is fix and life isn't fair .....

Exactly.

I have no respect for people (non-New Englanders) who decide to become Patriots fans solely because the team is dominant in the sport. Those folks undoubtedly root for the Yankees and Warriors for the same reason. I guess they gain some small amount of self-esteem for supporting the odds-on favorites

I'm guessing that we would differ on the definition of "fair" in this context.

In the lead up to SB LII, I notice that there is not much buzz. Not many people care for either team.

That's not true. I never once said that the wealthy have deflated balls.

I didn't say anything about rooting for anyone. I just said I don't get the hate.
