It's ok. I prefer a more traditional style.

Wow.

Not what I would have expected.  I would have thought a more traditional “look”.  My own biases of course, as the Obama’s always struck as fairly formal about “official” things and this is anything but formal.

Still.  Certainly interesting.

Same with me, although I like the Male Female sculpture in Baltimore for some reason.

How long does anyone think it will be before someone gets a photo of Trump w/ Jackson looking over his shoulder and Photoshops that portrait in.

Now THAT would be a hoot.

Ack! I've always hated it. In addition to it being (in my opinion, of course) ugly and absurdly large, it's completely wrong for its location in front of the classic-architecture train station.

Other than the flowery background, President Obama looks pretty good.  They added a few well placed pounds on him and he doesn't look like a scarecrow.

Mrs. Obama doesn't even appear to be her.  Her eyes just seem blank, like a store add from the 50's selling women's dresses.  She has a certain fire in her eyes the artist completely missed.

The official portraits of the Obama's are revealed.

Is this for real?? :o

It's art - of course it's not real, if you want 'real', take a photograph.

Personally, as art, they look fine to me.

I have to agree with you on this one. I've never liked it or its location.

I also thought President Obama looks good despite the background.  I was thinking the same about Mrs. Obama.

She looks good except for the eyes IMO.

Michelle is a good looking woman in IMO and what always stood out are her eyes, which seem blank to me in this portrait.

Me too. These just look to "cartoonish".

Her portrait does her no justice at all.

I'm just not a fan of the location.

Can any of you guys link to a better picture, the bloatware on the linked site makes it painful to try and view it.

Yes, her eyes are usually very expressive; strange that the artist didn't capture that.

The Michele Obama one looks like a younger version of Serena Williams. Maybe the artist was confused.

Thomas Eakins and Andrew Wyeth might disagree! :P

Actually, I found my own without the bloatware. Link

LOL, Obama seems to have a touch of Bogart in him, and I can see Michele in those eyes. :)

The face in the pic just doesn't look like her. (Not to mention that the viewer's eye is drawn first to the enormous dress, and not the face.

I prefer a more traditional look, but if you let the subject choose the artist, you're occasionally going to get something outre. Michelle should be pleased; the artist flattered her well (which is a thing quite commonly done for portraits of the famous), but it looks like she's wearing a bedspread as a dress. Barack... the fact is subtly wrong, the greenery makes the portrait too busy for my taste, and in a presidential portrait I prefer to see the head/face be most of the image. Just my opinions, of course.
