Is it time for SFA to become an independent?.........

It’s a very strong league. The league is fine with or without SFA. The powers that be need to define what they want for the MIAA. The blame is on them right now. If double digit transfers every year fits in with that definition then great, SFA is all good. But, the basic fact that no other team in the league operates in that manner hints to that decision being highly unlikely. If the MIAA decides they want nothing to do with a transfer factory, then that’s on SFA. It’s decision time. They created that program and need to deal with the consequences.

The Miaa-a has a monster of a problem on its hands....if the other schools unite and try and push SFA out of the door, all hell could and will break out...there will most likely be accusations of racism and the whole nine....

How many kids started at sfa with the rev that was still on the roster that was a starter and did not reclassify? Maybe 3. I hear the suit up and beat them folks but it’s like playing against an all star team everyweek lol. AO city is never going back so they can be beat my 30 every game lol

its an age old argument and i will stick by my guns...the second Bcc returns to the Miaa-a, the kids will be flocking to go there...just as they did the last time around....

Very simple way to prove SFA bringing in high numbers of transfers. Just go to Max Preps and look at SFA rosters for 2015, 2016,2017 and compare names to see that from one year to the next new players on the team that weren't even listed on the prior team's year.  2016 team had 12 new 11th graders and 16 new 12th graders that weren't even on the team the year before. 2017 had 11 new 11th graders and 13 more new 12th graders not on the team in 2016.  All of them transfers. Look at some of the names and see their profiles that they came from other schools the year before. Shane Lee, Bangda, Jalon Jones Eyabi Anoma, Clowney, Jahlil Brown from Edmondson, St Johns, Eastern Christian Academy, Dunbar.   Kwincy Jones, St Johns on and on and on I can go. Just look it up instead of defending SFA that no one has shown the record.  These players being enticed with gifts to transfer and contacted even before the parents know about it. Coaches from Baltimore city & Carroll County protesting this piracy and going directly to the kids already registered at playing for schools that are NOT  SFA.  Donovan Robinson at 6'7 345 pounds was bigger than any Ravens on the 2017 team. Also Ogudo bigger than any Ravens but these school principals and presidents don't seem to mind standing on the sidelines (or just reading the game scores) how their kids being injured. Mcdonogh lost 4 players the week before Calvert Hall and Willis with torn ACL in championship game. Gilman lost 92-7 in two games to SFA and they were the second best. Kids being brought down to practice at the Under Armour Center in the off season but still registered at other schools. Text messages being sent directly to these players from SFA coaches enticing them with promises to make big money and we will get you national TV exposure and to the NFL. I've seen the texts.  All of this is in direct violation of MIAA regulations on recruiting. But the MIAA Commissioner seems to have blinders. MIAA regulations also allow for member schools to be moved to different divisions up and down from A to B and to C conference. It would also apply to a school being moved out but they have never faced an individual whose moral scruples has gone to a level bent on beating IMG at all costs.

you should be banned....see my thread on maxpreps.....

Maxpreps is actually a very useful starting point for gathering info. re: SFA's roster, as long as you understand its limitations and don't do something stupid like rely on it for where/when games are being played.

I agree.....however, there are idiots who down play the importance and power of this board and feel that maxpreps is the know all to be all....they come here with their maxpreps hand me down info as if they are royalty....it really pisses me off

The racial accusations won’t go beyond this board. Poggi won’t be able to pull the race card even if he wanted to. Right now, SFA is fine under the current rules. If the MIAA wants to tighten the ship with transfer rules, then they are allowed that option. SFA will have a choice to abide or not. They won’t be kicked out. Poggi will have to make the decision. Race has nothing to do with any of that.

Now, if you want to argue that there are miserable individuals that don’t like SFA because of a deep seeded racial bias, then yea, I agree, but that’s life. There are always going to be 1 or 2 idiots in a room.

And right at that point there will be accusations of racism.

Any truth to the rumor that a highly rated player from Damascus is SFA bound. That is going around from some very reliable sources.

Heck, GA had very reliable sources saying he was going to Gilman. He’s staying put in Dmass, small town, if he was leaving it would be big talk here. He spent last weekend at PSU.

He’s actually the top overall recruit in the country for the class of 2020 currently.

Turning a blind eye to what they are doing at SFA and using Racism as an excuse is ridiculous.

I’ve heard for months that he was looking to leave Damascus. Was told that he was looking for better competition. Going to SFA would totally shock me! Couldn’t be a more different environment than Damascus and East Baltimore. I would assume he would have been heading to SJC.

I hope he stays, because if he doesn't, sounds like the Damascus people will be seriously buttt hurt!!

Same kind of rumors floated around his sister when she played b-ball at Urbana. Privates like to think everyone wants to go their school. This family is very humble and doesn’t need their egos stroked.

Of course, he will be the most heavily recruited player to play a Dmass and possibly Montgomery County. I think any school would be upset to lose him (ask Urbana).

But there is a history of leaving one high school for another, isn't there?

If Urbana's program wouldn't have turned into a circus, im sure he would have stayed.  By my count at least 6 players have transferred since 2016

I’ll only speak for myself, but if I was the #1 recruit in the country, especially if I was on the OL/DL, I’d want to see what I could do against top talent. Football doesn’t have an AAU circuit where you can play across the country on all star teams in the offseason. He’s going to ragdoll kids and have to chase plays from the back side for the next two years. I’m not saying that staying where he is will “hurt” him, but I will say there are programs that can “help” his development more. As a fan, I would like to see him line up across from future D1 OL’s in the privates like Tengwall, Franks, Lunsford, Dalcourt, Johnson etc...

But, I do understand why he would want to stay at Damascus. There is a tremendous amount of pride in that community.
