The "Why Can't Tillman Pitch the 1st Inning" Game Thread

91 posts in this topic

What's frustrating is that the Orioles have pitchers who can't seem to

1) Get ready for the 1st half

2) Avoid a rocky 1st inning.

You would think that after all these years Tillman would change his pre-game approach.

Yeah, they never look good in the first.  Look, the O’s coaches aren’t rocket scientists, or even smart, this has been a problem for years.

He has a 5.45 career ERA in the 1st inning.

A full one run higher than his career 4.47 ERA

Which gives a negative inclination that he would be effective in bullpen.

This is brutal.  He just doesn't have it.  I'm watching the game and its weak stuff with no command.  That equals getting shelled.  Way to go Buck on putting this guy back in there this year.  This should add up to be his third loss this season and its not even tax day.

On the bright side, we can hit the sack early tonight! 😂

Slide must do backflips every time Tilly starts.  I mean its an auto loss.  Or at least the O's will be losing when he exits.  Next quest is how long does Buck ride this anchor???

Let Tillman start every 4 days in Norfolk.

I seriously doubt he could get out AAA hitters.  Its been over a year and he isn't any better - at all.

Well,

My prediction that Tilly would bounce back and win 14 is looking more ludicrous every start... but there's still time!!!!

This has reached full-on embarrassment.  Tillman’s agent dying for him to be pulled

Hello Hunter Harvey, goodbye Chris. I'm sorry it came to this, but you just have not been a MLB pitcher since late 2016.

Yeah, his career is kaput.  Thanks Chris for your efforts (pre-2017).

Buck just loses so much credibility in this disaster.  Blinders on last year and all off season/spring.

Well I think he knows he’s not part of rebuilding, so he threw all of his weight behind “his guys”.

The guys playing behind Tillman know he doesn't have it.  Must be a real downer knowing you don't have a chance when Tilly runs out there.  And that's all on Buck.  Can't wait to hear how Buck spins this outing,

We need Tilly to come down with a strained groin so he can go on DL.  There is no way Buck will release one of his guys.

Years ago the Braves put Mark Wohlers on the DL because of, 'inability to pitch'.

Buck does get a gold star for recognizing Aroujo was a keeper.  This kid hadn't pitched above A ball.  Only going to get better.

Great closer. He just lost it. If the Braves had Rivera in the 1990's they would have won more titles.
