Topgolf high-tech driving range coming to South Baltimore

What a catch-22 Baltimore is in. Lots of crime, restaurants closing, people feeling the city...so should they let that continue and do nothing to try to stop it and get criticized for it? Or should they do things that bring people back to the city and get criticized for it?

No win situation either way based on how some people view things.

I think this has more to do with attempting to make the Horseshoe Casino location produce more revenue than it does with attempting to re-populate Baltimore with golfers.

I'd wager that schools and crime matter more than driving ranges on most people's list of "reasons to move somewhere" when deciding where to live.

I agree, but this is still an attraction that will bring people to the area. The city has also been seeking to develop the area around the stadiums for some time now, too. This is another part of that.

You won't be alone.  The truth is that location matters.

It's the same reason that Horseshoe Casino's revenue has decreased while the revenue at the other casinos here in Maryland have increased.

I believe location will cause a problem for them. Eventually. This place will take off like crazy at first but it will die down. It is really cool though,

It's a great location right off the highway.

That area is so congested, if you're coming in from 295 it can be a nitemare. Forget it if the O's or Ravens are in town.

Isn't there a parking garage right there?  I don't know what it costs but one more expense on top of a fairly expensive outing.

Oh good! I didn't know that. I hate casinos, I've never been... well, only to pick people up.

O's? Yeah maybe 3-4 years ago. It will be LESS congested than usual when the O's are in town.

Not that I know of. Never had to get a ticket validated or anything. Besides if the casino is pushing for this I’m pretty sure they’d allow for topgolf patrons to park there too.

I don't know what the deal is but I do know they charge for Ravens games. I think it's around $40.

So there must be a catch with going to the casino. So maybe golf parking won't be free.

Whoa!

Well, unless the casino loops in Top Golf, I stand by my original statement.  Just another high cost on what can already be an expensive day.

I'm sure it won't be $40 for Top Golf customers, and I am sure there will be more parking space built out for TG.

Posted (edited)

Never been in the Horseshoe. I'm a minnow. I like $5-$10 table mins when I play 3-card poker. I play the pair plus and 6 card bonus so it's 4 bets on the table at once. I hear the mins don't go lower than $15 at Horseshoe and MD Live. Been to Rocky Gap a few times...thats more my speed.

I have been kicking the idea around with the wife about taking a 3 dayer there...do you like it? I am not referring to the gambling ...as much as the rooms the grounds the food...is a place just to soak up the day.

And ....most importantly to me.....do they still allow fishing there.

Thanks in advance.
