Baltimore region became more diverse and educated in last 20 years

On quality of life measures, however, the region’s rank dropped to 14th from second. For example, Baltimore’s home ownership rank slipped to eighth from fifth as the rate fell to just over 65 percent from almost 72 percent; commuting time rank improved to 10th from 13th (though average time commuting per auto grew to 47 hours per year, up from 41 hours); and, on violent crime, the region rated last among the 20 peers, down from 16th.

Always a however.

This is the region, not just Baltimore City.  It includes Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard, and Queen Anne's counties.

Come on matt. There’s no crime in the counties. ;)

Broken records.

We get it, the city sucks.

Move on. Get a life.

But Pickle.....it is just sooooo much fun to complain about it. Especially when the rest of the state ....almost on a daily basis....has to pick up 'the slack'.

I and others paid for the ticket.....like it or not....so we get to complain.

I think some might have intentionally skipped pointing that out.

Ask anyone who moved away from the city to compare crime, homicides, and schools in Baltimore to that which exists in those other areas.

Hmmmm ..... I am betting if you could eliminate the city from the statistics. Maryland would be a really great place to live without that boat anchor dragging the numbers down.

So, you basically cherry picked a story, started a thread about it, and then immediately went into insult mode when other posters dared to point out facts you didn't want to see mentioned, like that the story is about the Baltimore region.

Others, jumping on the bandwagon, pointed out that crime also exists in the counties while ignoring to mention that the AMOUNT of crime and homicides and quality of schools also differ in quantity and quality compared to the city.

The devils in the details.

That is why I posted what I did above.

"Region" is in the thread title. Maybe you missed it?

Yeah, because it's the same old same old. Nothing new, unrelated to the thread. It's boring.

You want to add something to the discussion? Discuss the topic at hand. We can discuss all the dead bodies in the hundreds of threads discussing them, several of which I started.

How is posting a story on the Sun "cherry picking"? Should I run my threads by you before a post them?

You already misread the title of this thread. Maybe take a deep breath, go back, read it, and start over.

I saw it but thought that may you missed it, especially considering your angry remarks:

Instead of telling others to move on and to get a life, set an example by moving in and showing everyone how wonderful urban life can be.

Just a suggestion.

You mean accurate remarks.

"Baltimore is opening a trendy driving range" -- "Bad location, crime, casino is losing money, it won't work"

"Baltimore region became more educated and diverse in 20 years" -- "Baltimore still has crime".

I'm posting stories from The Sun, the host of this message forum. Not "cherry picking". I don't have an agenda, unlike you and your kind. I can discuss a range of topics without falling back on the same, well-known, talking points that are designed to shut down anything remotely positive.

Misery loves company I guess. You must be having a ball.

No reason for all the anger.  We have differing opinions.  That's to be expected when people post stories for discussion on a local news forum.  Some will agree. Others will disagree.  :)

You are a nasty bugger sometimes.

A simple no would have been suffice.

Everyone hear knows I live in Woodlawn. Where DO you live?

I've discussed it several times on this board. Do some research.

Ok....you spent 11 words. Instead of just the general towns name.

Duh.
