2018: Remainder of the Season Games Thread

Since no games will be deserving of their own thread.

5/19 @ BOS

Took Bundy almost 30 pitches to retire the Red Sox in the first.

Hitters just toy with these pitchers.

Great call on the remainder of the season thread

Chris Davis is awful. I really can’t watch these games in large part because of him. You watch the Red Sox hitters and how patient they are and how much contact they make. Then Davis comes up to lead off next inning and strikes out in the blink of an eye. He’s AWFUL

Only watching b/c I stumbled upon the game on ESPN and have a couple hours to kill. What a joke these guys are. Three K’s in top of second.  Pathetic

Logan Morrison is having a pretty dreadful season but I see he's gotten his BA over .200. and his OPS+ is over 40 points better than Davis (45!).

He's also a lot cheaper.

Alvarez is having an ideal season for a Showalter and Co. assembled team:

 7HR, .193 batting average

Fangraphs.

He’s literally unwatchable. What are they gonna do with him for next five years??

Hope he pulls a Gil Meche.

I know it's a lot of money, but these guys have a lot of pride.

It's hard to believe anybody would stick around that long while being so useless.

Ballgame. Well that was fun. Might be the last game I watch all season. This team is garbage

Davis again!    Hahahahahaha

I’ve lost so much respect for Buck. This has to be his last season. Or ideally half season

Alvarez!  Lucked into one

That's the organization's overall strategy.

It worked for a while.

Though not well enough to win anything other than a division title.

It did. But that also required some luck of guys having career HR years at the same time (Mgmt does probably deserve some credit for that)

But of course against good pitching in the playoffs that model gets you nowhere

Quit being so harsh on Buck and Crusher Davis... I mean, Buck dropped Chris all the way down the order to the 5 hole.  If he's not above .210 by September 1st I'll bet Buck drops him to the 6 slot.

...and why would you want to TRY to bunt against the shift, when you can instead strike out 4 times?

13 Ks in 8 innings at the plate. Orioles magic, feel it whoosh right by...

For the sanity of the fans, Davis needs to be benched.

It's gut-wrenching watching him sink so low.

Big Dan Duquette has a reputation for assembling this type of exciting offense.

I wonder if anyone in this organization has had the brilliant idea of maybe making an appointment for him to a reliable optometrist?   It just defies belief that a major league hitter misses contact as much as Davis.

It's really bad when I, as convicted Orioles homer, have little desire watching this team play. Chris Davis batting fifth is an insult to us fans. It's a shame too because I think the pitching staff has a lot more potential than it has for years; but with this anemic offense they all have to pitch a tight rope each game. It has to affect their psyche.

I suggested this in another thread a week or two ago (but for the entire team).

In all seriousness I completely agree. Maybe the team eye doctor is missing something or is out of practice. Could be something more obvious like this that people think is just routine

It’s a shame. And agree, unwatchable really.  I probably bashed them a bit too hard yesterday but it’s just so frustrating
