Trump to Host Ramadan Dinner

84 posts in this topic

This should be the definition of cringeworthy.

President Donald Trump will host an iftar dinner at the White House next week to recognize the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, according to a White House official, a departure from last year’s decision not to host the traditional post-sundown meal.

The iftar dinner is scheduled for Wednesday. The White House official declined to provide a list of attendees.

Tramp probably thinks he'll be eating Ramen noodles for Ramadan.

The irony is that they were probably anticipating and preparing complaints that the president would NOT be hosting the Ramadan dinner, ignoring the same ties the president has with some Muslim leaders and families that they usually complain about.

For the first time in nearly two decades, the White House did not host an iftar dinner to commemorate Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

as you were saying.....

I have no doubt in my mind that the meal will include something offensive. Then the usual fake apology will follow.  Racists don't know the meaning of a sincere apology.

And that someone doesn't even realize how he unwittingly proved my point.  Oh well, at least he got some angry name-calling out of his system earlier than usual today.

I hope not too.  Maybe it's related to fasting.  That sometimes seems to make people angry.

Because Muslims fast during the daylight hours of Ramadan but then eat at night.  Did you think they went a whole month without eating?

You should crawl out of your little ethno-centric box and educate yourself on other cultures.

The month-long set of fasts last from dawn until sunset each day.

Actually, it's to celebrate with a dinner to signify the end of Ramadan fasting.  Eid al-Fitr begins Thursday night.

The local Muslim community here prepared meals and food packages to give away to others this weekend as charitable acts.

The article mentions Iftar, which is the daily meal breaking the fast for that day.

Eid al-Fitr in the United States 2018

Friday, June 15, 2018

It is not possible to predict the date of Eid al-Fitr according to the Gregorian calendar accurately. This is because the month of Shawwal begins, and hence the month of Ramadan ends, after a confirmed sighting of the new moon. The new moon may be sighted earlier or later in specific locations. Hence, Muslims in different communities, for example on the east and west coasts of the USA and Canada, may begin the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations on different dates.

Like the same way that New Year is celebrated based on different time zones at the stroke of midnight.
