Ben Jealous rolling out celebrities, starting with Dave Chappelle, in bid to be Maryland governor

141 posts in this topic

Good stuff... def would love to see Cory Booker speak. Rushern Baker definitely comes off as old and establishment., You should've seen the people I saw him eating lunch with today. Looked like a field trip from the nursing home.  Smh...

emocrat Ben Jealous plans to deploy celebrity supporters over the next few weeks to rally his voters to the polls, starting this week with comedian and childhood friend Dave Chappelle, his campaign announced Tuesday.

Chappelle is scheduled to host a 2 p.m. rally for the Democratic candidate for governor at Morgan State University in Baltimore on Saturday, the second such event in two days...

...

The Comedy Central star is also scheduled to host a rally for Jealous in Prince George’s County on Friday, along with several other fundraisers in the area, the campaign said.

Chappelle’s appearance is the first of more than a half dozen high-profile supporters who will host events for Jealous through the early voting period, which begins June 14 and ends June 21. The Democratic primary election is June 26, and the winner will face incumbent Republican Gov. Larry Hogan.

...The Jealous campaign also announced several other events hosted by business, cultural and political celebrities: Ice cream magnates Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry’s, actor Lamman Rucker, Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and New Jersey U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, a friend of Jealous.

Sounds like a typical democrat hero.  States he is a community organizer.  I take that as code for he has never had a real job.  I also saw a clip of his tv question and answer.  Seems he thinks marylands biggest problem is that Hogan didn't go to war with trump over how he has "screwed Maryland".  Did not explain what that meant.  He also seems to think Hogan has been letting contracts for school heating for many years.

Ahhhhh ...Hogan doesn't run the cities schools....they get plenty of money to lose year after year.. They had millions available to them to fix heating systems....but they couldn't find in anyone with working brain cells to fill out the paperwork in a timely fashion.

The lies about Hogan in the Ben Jealous TV ads are infuriating. He is being no better than Anthony Brown in that regard, and you see how that worked out for Brown 4 years ago. People are not stupid enough to fall for lies like that. Well, most people, that is.

Lies like Hogan is responsible for lack of heat in Baltimore City Public Schools. That is pure BS.

Lies like Jealous will "fully fund" education, when in fact education in this state is already "fully funded" under Hogan in accordance with the laws and the formulas that have been established by the GA.

Jealous is pandering to the uninformed. He seems to have suckered you in quite nicely.

Even Hogan complained about the education funding where casino money isn’t adding to the pot, but rather funds are being switched around.

He did not say Hogan was responsible for lack of heat just that it happened under his watch.

He didn’t lie anymore than Hogan did in his ad. “When Baltimore needed a leader...”

You might want to watch one of his ads.  He blamed the no heat disaster on hogan.  Plus, if you watch or read the jayne miller expose on that scam.  You will see it started under that fine democrat o'malley's watch.  Also, plenty of money was available.  Plenty was squandered on magnetic water treatment systems.  Many millions more squandered on contracts which were let and never done.  No oversight and zero accountability.

Just what this state needs more of!

You think democrats have new ideas? That's a good one.

I'm plenty happy with Hogan. So are most people in MD.

Who else is talking about legalization? I’m happy with a Big Mac but I’d prefer Kooper’s chowhound.

You stick with the Big Mac when the competition is a frozen veggie bean burger.

They use fresh meat now too. Never frozen.

Put the joint down and educate yourself.

Quote

In 2012, we were promised funds from marijuana taxes would benefit our communities, particularly schools. Dr. Harry Bull, the Superintendent of Cherry Creek Schools, one of the largest school districts in the state, said, "So far, the only thing that the legalization of marijuana has brought to our schools has been marijuana."

Quote

In fiscal year 2016, marijuana tax revenue resulted in $156,701,018. The total tax revenue for Colorado was $13,327,123,798, making marijuana only 1.18% of the state's total tax revenue. The cost of marijuana legalization in public awareness campaigns, law enforcement, healthcare treatment, addiction recovery, and preventative work is an unknown cost to date.

Quote

Since legalizing marijuana, Colorado's youth marijuana use rate is the highest in the nation, 74% higher than the national average, according to the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Report. This is having terribly negative effects on the education of our youth.

Quote

Senator Booker stated his reasons for legalizing marijuana is to reduce "marijuana arrests happening so much in our country, targeting certain communities - poor communities, minority communities."

Quote

According to the Colorado Department of Public Safety, arrests in Colorado of black and Latino youth for marijuana possession have increased 58% and 29% respectively after legalization. This means that Black and Latino youth are being arrested more for marijuana possession after it became legal.

Yeah, let's make weed legal in Maryland so that Baltimorgue can further rot economically, cause it works everywhere else.
