Career nights from St. Frances junior Jamal West and Boys’ Latin senior Cameron Spencer highlighted Tuesday’s Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference quarterfinal round with St. Frances, Boys’ Latin, Mount Saint Joseph and McDonogh all advancing to Thursday’s semifinals.

Here’s a recap of Tuesday’s action:

No. 4 Mount Saint Joseph 73, John Carroll 53: All-Metro senior guard James Bishop, who was named the Baltimore Catholic League’s Player of the Year on Monday, scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Gaels’ balanced attack. Wesley Chairs added 15 and Tyler Brelsford finished with 12 as the Gaels improved to 25-6 on the season.

No. 5 St. Frances 104, Annapolis Area Christian 64: Junior forward Jamal West was unstoppable down low, scoring a career-high 41 points and adding 10 rebounds as the host Panthers (31-5) pulled away in the second half for the comfortable win. St. Frances trailed the Eagles, 19-12, after the first quarter and then only had a three-point halftime lead before outscoring the visitors, 33-11, in the third quarter to take control. Junior point guard Adrian Baldwin had 11 points and 10 assists.

No. 8 Boys’ Latin 64, Glenelg Country 53: Senior guard Cameron Spencer poured on a career-high 39 points as the host Lakers (29-5) were able to pull away from the Dragons in the fourth quarter. The Lakers led 32-30 at the half and the game stayed close throughout the third quarter before a 13-5 run in the fourth quarter proved pivotal for the home team. Spencer scored 22 of his 39 points in the second half.

McDonogh 53, No. 15 Loyola Blakefield 51: The host Eagles, trailing by three with 2:30 to play, took hold of the game with quality execution at both ends down the stretch. Everett Cooper hit two of his five 3’s in the key minutes of the fourth quarter to finish with a team-high 17 points. With a little more than a minute left, Jared Billups turned a steal into a two-handed dunk to give the Eagles (18-8) a 51-46 lead.
