these rankings are terrible how could dunbar and river hill be ahead of loyola especially when loyola beat dunbar last year and is ranked higher then them in the local polls and plays a tougher schedule? If anything Loyola should be # 3 and I beleive Dematha should be # 1

Just wondering why you think Dematha should be rank 1. Both the state poll and massey have Friendly at #1. The state poll and Massey both have loyola at 4 also.

Maybe, there are more people in that state poll that feel that Dunbar and River Hill is better than Loyola. And the same could be said about the Friendly ranking as well. No big deal, it's only a poll and since they won't play THIS year you can't say who would win or loose. All the teams still need to finish up the season and continue to win to win their respective titles.

not saying I agree with these rankings, but last year is last year. Dunbar does has some great talent though, no one can deny that. Young talent too.

The Massey rankings are useful (for determining strength of schedule, etc.), but not that accurate. For example, Gilman is ranked 21 spots ahead of Georgetown Prep, who beat Gilman last week. That doesn't make much sense.

I think Massey's poll is done all by calculations and the human element is taken out of the equation. But I could be wrong. That's what it seems like to me, but if someone actually knows, please chime in and shed some light on how they rank the teams.

Maxpreps is a good website, but it is national, and they don't cover Maryland themselves other than an occassional DeMatha game! I've noticed their ranking for a lot of states are very odd! www.BaltimoreMetroSports.com

I think the question you may ask yourself is, "how do you not rank them in the top percentile"? Obiviously there are areas of concerns that Hereford will need to correct. But, One could make a strong argument that Their best defense is their offense. I don't believe that 500+ rushing is something that many teams are able to do at any level 1A/2A/3A/4A. Now, saying that doesn't mean anything more than the rankings themselves do to those kids. The opposition knows that if you don't double and put a spy on #14, every touch is a potential homerun. However, picking your poison has been 5 opponents downfall going into week 6. The Coaching Staff will assess the pourous areas, and the arm tackling along with players being out of position at times. Hereford is what it is. They believe they can win every game. So, the bottle of poision moves along to Parkville next week. Should be a good game.

This Massey Rating is crazy, example

0-4 Glenelg is ranked #8 in 1A; ahead of undefeated Sparrows Point and Smithsburg

Keep looking and you'll find other winless teams ahead of teams with 2,3,4 wins. You can't be serious.
